The quality of Disney entertainment is, quite simply, so incredible that it has spread all over the world and in a vast number of styles - from their movies, to their theme parks, and even to Broadway. Disney Cruise Lines is no exception, taking those Broadway quality performances and bringing them to the open sea. But with 4 cruise ships, it's hard to know what to expect on your own cruise. And, so, we'll take a look at the Live Shows available on each of the Disney ships. Today, we'll check out the Disney Dream!
The Disney Dream features 3 world class live shows - Disney's Believe, The Golden Mickeys, and Villains Tonight!
Disney's Believe features six high-definition projectors, more than 200 scenic elements, and over 300 costumes, all coming together to tell the heartwarming story of a father and his daughter. Dr. Cornelius Greenaway is so incredibly passionate about his work that, sometimes, he forgets to show his daughter, Sophia, how much he cares about her. When Dr. Greenaway forgets Sophia's birthday, she makes a special wish and receives a visit from none other than Aladdin's Genie! Dr. Greenaway journeys through a world of fantasy and imagination, eventually discovering what is truly important in life. The Genie isn't the only Disney Character that you'll recognize during this show. Disney's Believe features over 20 of our famous friends, including Cinderella, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Belle, Rafiki, and Princess Tiana.
The Golden Mickeys invites Guests to walk down the red carpet to enjoy a musical spectacular inspired by Hollywood awards shows. This ceremony, however, features Disney Characters, nominated in several categories, including heroism and romance. However, just as the show is about to begin, the Master of Ceremonies fails to appear, leaving a bashful Stage Manager to host the event. With the help of friends from some of our favorite Disney movies like
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,
Sleeping Beauty,
Mulan,
Toy Story,
Pocahontas,
One Hundred and One Dalmations,
Lady and the Tramp,
The Lion King, and
The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Stage Manager learns that anything is possible and that dreams really can come truly when you put your heart into something you truly believe.
Villains Tonight! is the first full-scale musical production dedicated to the Disney Villains, though it was created for Guests of all ages and is not scary. This show is the story of Hades, as he attempts to hold onto his title of "Lord of the Underworld," after The Fates warn him that the Underworld has become too happy of a place. In order to remedy the situation, Hades recruits Disney Villains such as Ursula, Cruella de Vil, The Evil Queen, Captain Hook, Scar, and, of course, his own henchmen, Pain and Panic from Disney's
Hercules. This incredibly unique show features re-imagined versions of 8 classic Disney Villain tunes, including a disco rendition of "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from
The Little Mermaid, and a dance club version of "Cruella De Vil" from
101 Dalmations, plus 2 original songs created just for this show.
