New Info. And Live Chat On The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

If you haven't been to Walt Disney World in a while, then you probably haven't seen all of the work that's been going on, creating the final piece of New Fantasyland - the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, a "family friendly," roller coaster type ride that takes guests through the mines of the Seven Dwarfs from the film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The ride will be set to music from the movie as well. Much like the other roller coaster in Fantasyland, The Barnstormer (starring the Great Goofini), there is going to be a height restriction on this ride. While guests 35" and taller can ride The Barnstormer, the minimum height is a little taller on the Mine Train, set at 38". This probably has to do with the way that the coaster is designed to rock from side to side, along with the curves and turns of the track. For those of us who have family members not yet tall enough to ride, the Rider Swap option is always available at Disney World for these types of attractions, giving all family member who meet the requirements, the ability to ride without having to wait on line over and over again. Not to worry, though. This is definitely not being billed as a thrill ride, such as Space Mountain or Thunder Mountain - just an amazing chance to ride through some fantastic storytelling of a classic story, in a modern ride style.

Lots of rumors have been swirling around as to when the ride will actually open. The only official word as of right now is "Spring 2014." Disney has recently scheduled a 3-day press event, where members of the media can come to learn about all that Disney has in store for the summer. This event will include a "preview" of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Whether that means that members of the press will actually be able to ride the attraction itself is not being revealed at this point. The event will be taking place from April 30-May 2, 2014.

The Disney Parks Blog will be hosting a live chat on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 2:30pm EST, that will focus on this upcoming attraction. At that time, Walt Disney Imagineering Executive Creative Director Dave Minichiello will be on hand to talk about the new ride as well as to answer questions. Plus, chat attendees will be treated to an exclusive Walt Disney Imagineering video of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train where we will get a "sneak peek of the experience inside the attraction." So, be sure to head over to the Disney Parks Blog for that on Monday. If you can't make it - no worries! I'll definitely be there and I'll let you know what we learn right here at OfMiceAndFamily.com!
