More Than 3? Big Changes to FastPass+!

©Disney
Still in it's testing phase at Walt Disney World, the new FastPass+ system allows guests to lock in 3 FastPass+ reservations in advance of their trip via the MyDisneyExperience website or app. For guests who choose not to set them up ahead of time, in-park kiosks are available, with Cast Members on hand to assist with making those reservations. However, the big catch has been that guests have been limited to only those 3 FastPass+ reservations each day. Once they are used, guests may enjoy each attraction using the Standby line. This has marked a big change from the old FASTPASS system, which allowed guests many more FASTPASSES throughout each day, though without the ability to select their preferred time of day to experience each attraction.

This morning, however, Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has taken to the internet to release a statement about the current state of the MyMagic+ program (which includes FastPass+) as well as some thoughts as to where it is headed in the near future. I'll let him speak for himself in this excerpt:
"As expected, most of our guests think that securing times to ride our attractions is one of the best ways to maximize the fun of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. We've heard from a number of guests that they would like the opportunity to add additional FastPass+ entitlements during their visit, in addition to the three they can plan in advance. So, we're working on providing them with the ability to add and enjoy additional entitlements on the day of their visit. Once they've used the three they've booked, we'll enable them to select another at kiosks in the parks. And once they've used the fourth, they can select another, and so on. We also heard that other guests liked the fact that with the FastPass+ service they could use FASTPASS when they park hopped. So we're working on a service enhancement to add that feature to FastPass+ as well."
So, there you have it! Coming soon: a chance to lock in additional FastPass+ times, once your initial 3 have been used with the Park Hopping option on the horizon! I'll be sure to keep you posted with any and all changes and additional specifics regarding these new changes as they become available, as well as the expected date for all of this to begin. The entire MyMagic+ program continues to officially remain in the "testing" phase, allowing for all of these little changes and tweaks, looking for the system that will be make guests visits as Magical as possible!
