Up until this month, Disney's new RFID Magic Bands have been used solely for short-range purposes, touch-to-enter, touch-to-pay, etc. Now, their long-range capabilities have begun to be taken advantage of, by way of attraction photos. Select attractions across the 4 Walt Disney World theme parks will automatically link the on-ride photos to the MyMagic+ accounts of Magic Band-wearing guests. Initially, this will only be available to guests who have purchased
Disney's Memory Maker digital photo package. It is expected to expand to all guests in the future. Previously, guests who had wanted to add a ride photo to their MyMagic+ account have had to head over to the photo counter at the post-ride gift shop to do so.
The attractions on which this new technology will be available are:
- Dinosaur
- Expedition Everest
- Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin
- Space Mountain
- Splash Mountain
- Test Track
- Rock n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
